This incredible song "With a little help from my friends" was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon especially for Ringo  ( The Beatles’ drummer) to sing. Ringo wasn’t a very good singer, which explains the references to sing out of key. It has been recorded by many other singers including Joe Cocker and Wet, Wet, Wet.

The soccer world lost a little of its magic: Ronaldo confirmed his retirement today at the age of 34. The Brazilian Legend has decided to hang up his boots due to injuries and a loss of fitness  The Corinthians striker announced his decision at a press conference in São Paulo. “I'm stopping my career as a professional soccer player. It's been a beautiful, emotional, marvellous career.
These last two years, I've had a long series of injuries, from one side to the other, one leg to the other, one muscle to the other. The pain pushed me to think about the end of my career”, he said.         Ronaldo had a brilliant career, helping Brazil win two World Cups and being named Fifa World Player of the Year in 1996, 1997 and 2002.  He has played for Brazil in 97 matches, scoring 62 gols. Ronaldo had been expected to quit at the end of the season but the early elimination of his club, Corinthians, from the Copa Libertadores brought forward the date.  Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima was born in Bento Ribeiro, a poor neiborhood of Rio de Janeiro, on September 18, 1976. His talent took him to Europe’s top clubs, such as Milan and Internazionale (Italy) and Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid. In Brazil he played for Corinthians and Cruzeiro.

* The title and the words of the song convey a social message and encourage a certain course of action. These two ideas are best illustrated in:

SIMPLE PAST

O simple past é um dos tempos verbais mais simples. Os verbos no simple past são empregados para indicar uma ação completamente terminada no passado ou uma ocorrência habitual de ações no passado.

- Para formar uma sentença nesse tempo verbal, basta flexionarmos o verbo principal na forma do passado.
- Nos casos de verbos regulares, basta acrescentarmos o sufixo –ed.

- Nos casos dos verbos irregulares conjugações diversas devem ser memorizadas.

Caso queiramos fazer uma sentença negativa ou interrogativa, devemos utilizar o verbo auxiliar “did”. No entanto, a diferença é que o verbo não será flexionado.
